Traditional Tibetan Massage - KuNye
Pronounced "Koo-nyay," Tibetan massage has been practiced for thousands of years in Tibet as an integral part of Tibetan Medicine. In Tibetan, the word Ku means to apply oil and Nye means to apply pressure with movements. KuNye is beneficial as a stand-alone treatment as well as a preventative measure against illnesses and a supportive treatment in conjunction with other modalities. It is an excellent way to relax and promote general health and well-being. KuNye is excellent for the following conditions:
What to avoid in relation to KuNye: Please do not eat a large meal before the KuNye treatment. Also, avoid taking a cold shower or being exposed to the cold directly after the massage. Balancing Elements
Balancing Elements is a traditional Tibetan technique used to treat dizziness, stiffness of the limbs, high stress, insomnia and tinnitus. A small heated compress made from nutmeg, caraway and til (sesame) oil. The hot compress is then used along the rLung (Loong)* points of the body for relief from the aforementioned symptoms. Balancing Elements is a wonderful treatment for re energizing the body and mind. * rLung (Tib.) is the source of the body's ability to circulate physical substances (e.g. blood), energy (e.g. nervous system impulses), and the non-physical (e.g. thoughts) Swedish Relaxation Massage: Just want to spend some time in the bliss of relaxation? The list goes on! Deep Tissue Massage: Deep tissue massage is a massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains in areas such as the neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, shoulders and an amazing release for the quadriceps. Deep tissue massage uses the same technique as Swedish massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is much deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).
